NLP Master Practitioner Assessment

Every school provides a different type of Master Practitioner programme, placing the emphasis on different areas, which means that there is no set criteria for certification.

The Northern School of NLP offers the following criteria for Master Practitioner Assessment. These are based on the effective application of the skills and knowledge contained within NLP Practitioner training to achieve set goals. Mastery relies upon the elegant, efficient and effective use of these skills both when working with an explorer as part of an intervention, or with an exemplar who is providing information about the nature of their effectiveness.

You will be given more detailed information about what these skills mean in practice. You will also be given criteria for the evaluation of your modelling project.

Each module will also generate it's own set of tasks, which taken together will form your Modelling activities, the results of which you will present on the final weekend.

At the end of this programme, you will be able to:

Quality of State: You will be able to

  • manage your state of curiosity
    • with ease, without trying
    • with internal calm and balanced muscle tone
    • using peripheral vision

Spontaneity: You will be able to

  • respond to distinctions made between
    • instinctive and studied behaviour
    • knowing and not knowing
    • knowing and doing
  • act in the moment to be able to review later

Conscious/Unconscious Interface: You will be able to

  • demonstrate flexibility across this interface by being able to
    • balance attention between outcome orientation and the mix of fascination and curiosity
    • maintain the tension between purpose and non-purpose
    • respond to shifts in own and other's neuro logical levels
  • use both cognitive and intuitive processes to learn
    • facts
    • behaviours
    • attitudes
  • provide conscious explanation for unconscious behaviour

Congruence: You will be able to

  • respond to personal incongruence through recognising
    • physical asymmetry
    • parts conflict
    • internal kinaesthetic discord
  • respond to incongruence in others through recognising
    • mismatch in content and tone, content and physiology
    • physical asymmetry
    • calibration of desired and actual state

Attention: You will be able to

  • shift personal boundaries by
    • altering focus of attention at will
    • adopting different filters
  • recognise patterns by
    • physiology, language formation
    • behaviours, relationships structures
    • belief structures
    • thinking level approaches
    • information sorting categories/meta programmes
  • disrupt patterns to generate desired alternative behaviours by
    • mismatching language patterns and physiology
    • reframes
    • referring to higher values

Multiple Descriptions: You will be able to

  • be versatile in adopting triple description
  • respond to descriptions of reality in
    • behavioural description
    • metaphors and symbols
    • written and verbal language
  • provide a means of plotting and notating another's map
  • enable others to experience your map of another's map

Assessment methods

During the final weekend you will be given every opportunity to put your learning into practice, in a variety of ways including working on old and new techniques, selecting appropriate interventions, using language pattern flash cards and completing a multiple choice questionnaire.

At the end of the programme, everyone will know the outcome of his or her Assessment. This could take one of three formats:

FULL CERTIFICATION: You will be given your NLP Master Practitioner’s Certificate.

PROVISIONAL CERTIFICATION: You will be given a Certificate of Attendance, with a full Certificate pending the completion of certain tasks.

CERTIFICATE OF ATTENDANCE: You will be given a Certificate of Attendance, with recommendation of areas of further training and/or development.

note: It is unwise to assume a successful outcome for example for business purposes, until you know the result for certain.
