It's the way I see it
This is a really light little exercise, which we do on the Introductory Day, but which has a lot of information packed into it, with the potential to make a difference. When I used it to explore an exchange I had with a Call Centre operative, it became really obvious, with great clarity, that my anger doesn’t serve me at any level at all, nor does my attitude of dismissive contempt! I actually hadn’t fully realised how much I was contributing to the situation! A bit of second positioning of the operator might just serve me better. We’ll wait and see. Some of you may notice similarities with a previously posted exercise. It is the differences between them that make it interesting. Think of a relationship, with a partner, friend, colleague, child, organisation, substance that you would like to be different.
2 Look at yourself feeling like this? What kind of animal, food, god's
art, music, smell are you?
3 Now become your X. What is your relationship like with You?
4 Now place your attention on the other person involved. They are like
what animal, food, god's art, music, smell?
5 As you see the both of you, what shift in you would enhance your
wellbeing, and the wellbeing of those involved?
6 Is this ecological? What would you gain or lose? Do you have equally
high levels of intention to match your attention, to give you commitment to be
different? I would be delighted to hear from you regarding your experiences of working with this model. Do email me on admin@nlpand.co.uk All the best
