Gaining Inspiration
This could be a useful exercise to put some zest into a current activity, or put it on the back burner until all the missing ingredients are available.
- Identify the Task.
Step into the space and notice the level of energy the thought of this task generates within you. Score 1 (low) – 10 (high).
- Step into Stimulation.
a. What is the source of this task?
b. Has it resulted from events outside of your experience?
If the energy level is below 5, then ask yourself:
c. What outside information are you missing, and where might it come from?
Return to Task and notice any rise in energy level.
- Step into Mission.
a. Are you aware of your mission, the reason behind why you do the work you do? (If you don’t know your mission, then you may want to consider doing David Gordon’s Meaning Existence Module)
b. Does this task contribute directly to your mission?
If the energy level is below 5, then ask yourself:
c. How might I alter this task, or the way I am doing it, so that it becomes more aligned to my mission?
Return to Task and notice any rise in energy level.
- Step into Skills and Knowledge.
a. Does this task make the best use of your skills and knowledge?
b. If NO, then ask yourself: Is there anyway you can use this task to discover something else, which does use your unique combination of talents.
If the energy level is below 5, then ask yourself:
c. What skills or knowledge could you introduce into this task, that you haven’t thought of yet?.
Return to Task and notice any rise in energy level.
- Step into Permission.
a. Given the time you need to devote solely to this task, is that OK with everyone around you, including yourself?
b. How might you get round any objections?
If the energy level is below 5, then ask yourself:
c. If you don’t tackle this immediately, when will you be starting?
Return to Task and notice any rise in energy level.
- Now calibrate your energy levels. Are they above 8 and rising? Are you now ready to commit to the task you now know is worthy of all of your attention and talent?
a. If no – then revisit any of the areas for new information.
b. If still no – then you might explore ways of either delegating, or anchoring resilience and stamina, and put your head down and get on with it!
