Finding words was easy Thinking they’ll just come When it didn’t happen I tightened like a drum So I said I’ll never do it I said I couldn’t do it I said I’ll never do it I said I wouldn’t do it I tried to use some new ones I stole them were I could Thought others would just join them if they saw the good They were very canny Wow they moved real fast Thought they were really clever avoiding my poetic grasp So I said I’ll never do it I said I couldn’t do it I said I’ll never do it I said I wouldn’t do it A great idea I’ll try a different ploy Listen to others chatter Guess what? Still no joy My light began to shatter I’d picked my muses carefully Only those with things to say It all ended tearfully I wasted day after day So I said I’ll never do it I said I couldn’t do it I said I’ll never do it I said I wouldn’t do it I accessed the internet Plenty of words on there I’d no longer need to fret I’d write without a care I read great literary works of the living and the dead My answer surely in their lurks All I wanted would be said Hadn’t I said I couldn’t do it? Hadn’t I worked really hard? So I said I wouldn’t do it I really wasn’t a bard Then I noticed the words inside And they just fell right out They weren’t trying to hide I just had to lose the doubt And when I looked down There they were Not one ode but the two Not just hanging about but on the page to view I’d said I’d never do it I’d said I couldn’t do it Thank god that I’m a liar Thank god that I’m no trier |
